A web tool to download a whole tree (files + directories : photos, videos, programs, etc) to your visitor's disk.

The main goal of my downloader is Albulle.vOM : a photo gallery, in which the user has a basket. He drops the photos and videos he wants in it, or even whole directories. Then he clicks a "download" button, and he wants all of this to arrive on his disk. But a web browser can download only a single file at a time. So the usual way is to zip the files, ... but :

1. many users don't actually know what to do with an archive : you lose half of the visitors
2. the zipping process with many large photos and videos is extremely resource-consuming. BTW, an alternative is to use OMzip, which will not consume big resources, even with GB files.

Therefore, I built a tool that is embedded in the download page, that requires no installation (java applet). It gets the basket information, and downloads each file, one at a time, with a per-file progress indication, a basket progress-bar and ETA, a preview of the current and next files (thanks to Albulle thumbnails), and of course a choice for the visitor to choose his destination folder. The initial hierarchy will be recreated on the visitor's disk with the files at their right place.

The software can run on any visitor platform running java. It is hardly not server-dependant.

My software has been used since 2006 by my private website visitors.
